What you should know about Mercy Pharmacy Mount Lawley
MercyCare is a leading Catholic provider of aged care, family, community, health and disability services. Our Vision, Mission and Values form the base of MercyCare and guide our priorities and future growth. MercyCare is committed to increasing our Aboriginal workforce at all levels of the organization and supporting reconciliation and healing initiatives. We remain traditions started by the Sisters of Mercy and yield services that have their origins in the 1850s. To bring compassion and justice to life and burst cycles of meaningful disadvantage. Respect we value the inherent worth of each person and the automatic environment. Integrity we are honest, genuine, accountable and reliable. Compassion we respond with begin hearts and minds to people's needs. Justice we recognize everyone's right to a unprejudiced share of resources and opportunities. Sister Ursula Frayne was a ally and associate of Catherine McAuley and imbibed her spirit and values very deeply. The group included Spanish Benedictine priests, brothers and lay catechists. We stood in the wilds of Australia in the midsummer night and we could truly say of it that we had nowhere to lay our heads, wrote Ursula Frayne when they found no arrangements had been made for a deposit to live. This pioneer group was the beginning of the Sisters of Mercy in Australia. From 1846 to 1900 there were eight independently operating groups of Sisters of Mercy in W.A. Thanks to author Marilyn Beresford, the stories behind MercyCare have been captured to be capable to be shared with the community. Firstly, it records a lengthy and notable record of service to those suffering disadvantage and marginalization in the Western Australian community. Secondly, it looks at the role played by the laity in the Perth Congregation’s institutions for over 150 years. MercyCare’s 201417 Strategic Plan provides the impetus and platform to focus our attention on building relationships with Australia’s First People, and in doing so improve MercyCare’s responsiveness to their needs and aspirations, while supporting Aboriginal leadership and self determination. This work is being enabled by a formal commitment to a reconciliation journey supported with an organisationwide Aboriginal Strategy and an associated annual Reconciliation Action Plan. This is a vital journey for the integrity of MercyCare’s Mission and responsibilities, both as an Australian church and civil society notforprofit community service organization located in the tradition of mercy, compassion, justice and contributing to the common good.
